The process is getting simpler and now most of the training is available through the USA Swimming website. Attached you can find a document detailing the process to sign up and get the fundamental training.
For new Officials they need to take:
1. Foundations of Officiating
2. Either Stroke and Turn, for those interested in observing the races close to the pool, or Administrative Official, for those more interested in the back office/computer side of officiating.
3. Safe Sport certification, which is mandatory for anyone above 18 (swimmers, parents, officials and coaches)
4. Concussion training
Once those are complete they can come to any meet and speak with the Meet Referee to get apprentice sessions. Our meet is a great opportunity for them.
In those meets depending on the track they select they need to bring the evaluation log to be signed by the Meet Referee and validate those sessions. Attached both Stroke and Turn as well as Admin evaluation forms for our LSC.
